What makes working with MACRO research group a great opportunity?
Working with the MACRO research group offers an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of mechatronics, control, and robotics research. You will have the chance to engage in cutting-edge projects, collaborate with experienced researchers, and contribute to innovative solutions in areas such as robot design, UAV control, and human-robot interaction. Additionally, MACRO provides a rich environment for professional growth and development, supported by a diverse team of graduate and undergraduate students from UFMG’s Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
Does MACRO collaborate with the private sector?
Yes, MACRO actively seeks partnerships with the private sector. These collaborations are crucial for applying our research to real-world problems, ensuring that our innovations are practical and beneficial to industry needs. By working with private companies, MACRO members gain valuable experience and insights, which help bridge the gap between academic research and industrial applications.
What international collaborations does MACRO participate in?
One of the significant benefits of being part of MACRO is the opportunity to collaborate with renowned research institutions around the globe. Our group has established partnerships with prestigious universities such as the University of Sevilla and the University of Manchester to name a few. These international collaborations enrich our research activities, providing diverse perspectives and access to a broader range of expertise and resources.
I haven’t found the information I was looking for in the website. Where can I look for more information?
Please contact Prof. Adorno (adorno at ufmg.br) or Prof. Raffo (raffo at ufmg.br).
MACRO members:
I’m a new member of MACRO. What should I do?
Welcome to MACRO! To get started, ensure you have access to all our communication channels. The most important one is our email group (macroufmg at googlegroups.com), where all official messages are sent. Please talk to your advisor to get included in the list. Additionally, explore our website to familiarize yourself with our research group, the people involved, and our ongoing projects.
What kind of information should I send to the email group?
This list includes current and former members. Any general information related to our research group that is relevant to all members is appropriate. Here are some examples:
- Appropriate: You created a cool video related to your research project and want to share it with the group. Yes, this is the right place!
- Inappropriate: You want to be included on the website or need help with another MACRO resource. In this case, you should talk to your advisor or a senior colleague instead of sending an email to the whole group.
- Inappropriate: You want to discuss something like the color of MACRO’s new t-shirt. Instead of starting a discussion in the group, use an online poll or Doodle and send only the link to the group to avoid endless discussions.
How can I request a place at the lab?
The allocation of lab spaces follows a hierarchical organization based on the students’ date of entrance and the advisors’ ability to request a place, as well as the date of the request. You can check the corresponding list here. Places are allocated exclusively to graduate students.
Can I use the available robots?
Yes, as a MACRO member, you can use any of the robots and devices available. However, you must check the schedule for availability and create an event specifying your name, the time, and the robots or devices you plan to use. Before using the robots, ensure you are registered as an editor of the robots’ usage calendar. Ask your advisor for assistance with this registration.
